Clumber Spaniel Health Survey 2020

Thank you to every Clumber Spaniel owner that participated in our recent health survey. There were an outstanding 311 surveys completed and we are grateful to all owners that took the time to share details of their Clumber Spaniels health. The preliminary results can be found here CSH survey results (all dogs).

We have also looked at the results of the 166 UK based dogs and reported their findings here UK only results.

We did this so that we could look for comparisons between UK results and the rest of the world. 311 dogs were included in our survey overall, 166 of those dogs were based in the UK. For each topic in the surveys, we have taken the more frequent conditions and compared them in percentages. Therefore, the ‘UK’ results are a percentage of 166 dogs and the ‘Non UK’ results are a percentage of the remaining 145 dogs from around the world. The document to compare both may be found here

We did this out of interest to see how our results fared against the official Clumber Spaniel Club (CSC) results in the UK. There were some interesting differences, which are tabled below. All results are in percentages, CSH have rounded theirs up or down for ease of reading.

Ultimately, the survey results are only going to be as good as the data that is entered into it. It appears we had different result percentages even to the CSC, which would indicate that although at first there appears to be a difference geographically, we did not do as well as we could have to include owners that took the time to complete the CSC survey. It will be interesting to see participation in future surveys and the results of them.

We will now start looking into allergies and ear infections as our survey has highlighted these as problematic for Clumber Spaniels around the globe.
